SOL Casino Transaction Speed — How Fast Is Solana Really?
Solana is advertised as having 400 millisecond block time with about 65,000 transactions every second. But this brings up question of what this actually means for people playing at casinos. By doing tests with deposits and withdrawals at all SOL casinos, we tried to figure out how blockchain speed really shows up for player.
Deposit Speed Tests
| Casino | SOL Deposit Time | BTC Deposit Time | ETH Deposit Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winshark | ~3 seconds | ~18 minutes | ~2 minutes |
| Slota | ~4 seconds | ~22 minutes | ~3 minutes |
Deposits made with SOL went through in less than 5 seconds at both casinos tested. After clicking "send" in the Phantom wallet, balance showed up quickly on the casino dashboard. Usually there are 2 or 3 seconds more than the blockchain confirmation itself because casino has to process it internally. For casinos that combine speed with unlimited withdrawals, FantasyBet and FijiCasino both remove daily withdrawal caps entirely — useful once your SOL clears instantly.
When we looked at Bitcoin, deposits take longer because casinos require multiple confirmations before crediting your balance. Most casinos want between 1 and 3 BTC confirmations, and each block takes around ten minutes. Ethereum is a bit quicker, maybe 2 or 3 minutes, but it was not as fast as SOL.
Withdrawal Speed Tests
Withdrawals are made up of two main steps: one is the casino's internal process that is done by staff manually; the other is the automatic blockchain confirmation handled by the network. It is important to understand this division because it shows where any delay really happens.
| Casino | Internal Review | Blockchain Confirmation | Total Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Winshark | ~22 hours | ~1 second | ~22 hours |
| Slota | ~36 hours | ~1 second | ~36 hours |
After the casino approves your withdrawal, SOL arrives in your wallet almost right away. The entire wait is because of casino's review and manual procedure. Every casino says their processing takes 24 to 48 hours and in our testing, the withdrawals were inside that window.
The important takeaway: The blockchain itself is not problem in withdrawal delays. Whether you use SOL, BTC or ETH, you are still waiting the same period (24 to 48 hours) for the casino to approve your request. The change happens after approval; SOL goes into your wallet within one second but when you do a bank transfer, it adds 1 to 5 more business days. So SOL withdrawals are basically 1 to 5 days quicker than fiat money withdrawals when you look at total time.
How Deposit Speed Impacts Actual Gameplay
Speed is most noticeable in certain gambling situations:
- Live dealer games — If you are playing live blackjack or roulette and suddenly have no funds, SOL lets you refill money in under 5 seconds and you do not lose a seat at the table. BTC deposits may take more than 10 minutes meaning you would miss the round.
- Short-timed promotions — Some casinos have quick bonus offers or tournament buy-ins with tight timing. SOL gives you instant deposits so you are not going to miss a promotion just because your deposit is processing.
- Impulse behavior — The immediate deposit feature of SOL sometimes works against people. There is no waiting period like you have with a bank transfer. If you feel like chasing a loss, speedy SOL transactions take away the built-in pause that might help you think twice. If you want to prevent this, put deposit limits on your casino account.
- Multiple casino play — Some gamblers split their funds over several different casinos. The fast speed of SOL makes moving money between casinos doable in seconds, whereas BTC or bank transfers are not practical for this.
Why SOL Outpaces BTC for Casino Use
There are three technical explanations for why Solana transactions are way faster compared to Bitcoin:
- Block timing: Solana makes new block every 400 milliseconds or so. Bitcoin only does this every 10 minutes. That difference alone makes SOL about 1,500 times faster fundamentally.
- Finality: SOL transactions reach their endpoint in roughly 0.4 seconds which means the transaction cannot be reversed and is confirmed. Bitcoin is slower and needs from one to six confirmations (10 to 60 minutes) before casinos finalize deposits. For smaller sums casinos may accept fewer confirmations. If you deposit a big amount, it is common to require 3 or more confirmations.
- Throughput: Solana can handle up to 65,000 transactions a second. In contrast, Bitcoin only does about 7 TPS. During busy periods, Bitcoin transactions pile up inside the "mempool" and then must compete for space in the next block. SOL transactions don't face this backlog because there is space every time a new block comes.
Network Congestion and Reliability Issues
Many people worry about Solana's reliability. Both Bitcoin and Ethereum never had any complete network shutdowns, but Solana had some visible disruptions:
- Past outages — Solana had few outages in 2022 and 2023, sometimes lasting multiple hours. During those times, nobody could do any transactions, so deposits and withdrawals were not possible.
- Recent stability — Since late 2023, the uptime of Solana got much better. The network was free from major outages for more than a year mainly because of validator upgrades and improvements in protocol.
- Congestion incidents — Even if there was not a complete downtime, busy events (like when NFTs are launched or tokens are minted) can cause transactions to slow temporarily. At these times, it can take 10 to 30 seconds instead of the usual couple of seconds and sometimes a transaction may fail, needing another try.
Casino players do not need to worry much. Outages do not occur much and if one happens your casino balance is not changed; you are simply blocked from doing any deposits or withdrawals while network is down. It is smart to have a fiat payment method added to your casino account just in case the network stops working.
SOL Speed vs Other Payment Methods
| Method | Deposit Speed | Withdrawal (After Approval) |
|---|---|---|
| SOL | 1–5 seconds | 1–2 seconds |
| BTC | 10–60 minutes | 10–60 minutes |
| ETH | 1–5 minutes | 1–5 minutes |
| Visa/Mastercard | Instant | 24–72 hours |
| Bank Transfer | 1–3 days | 3–5 business days |
| Skrill/Neteller | Instant | 24–48 hours |
Credit cards are about equal with SOL for deposit speed (both are pretty much instant) but SOL is much quicker for withdrawals once casino says yes. Bank transfers are always the slowest in both directions. For a detailed ranking, check our fastest withdrawal casinos page or browse the best SOL casinos overall.
Advice for the Quickest Transactions Possible
- Try Phantom wallet – It automatically picks best fee and priority levels for SOL transactions, so there is no need for you to make any manual configuration.
- Keep some SOL for network fees – Even 0.01 SOL is fine for hundreds of transactions. If your wallet hits zero, you will not be able to send anything because there is no SOL for the fee.
- Finish KYC before your first withdrawal – Every casino needs you to verify your identity before they pay out money. If you wait until moment you want to withdraw, you add an extra 24 to 72 hours for KYC processing, that is on top of regular withdrawal review time.
- Withdraw during business hours in the week – Casino processing teams are most active in European time (9am to 5pm CET). If a withdrawal comes in Friday evening, it may not get processed until Monday.
- Do not do transactions during big Solana network events – Large NFT launches or token releases can sometimes slow the network. These are announced on Solana social media ahead of time.
- Use the priority fee option – During periods when things are crowded, Phantom wallet allows setting higher priority fee (still only a tiny fraction of a cent), and that helps make sure your transaction goes into the next block.
